Oasis of the dead

Dead Vlei, Namibia's mystical powerspot (tm) in Namib-Naukluft Park silently displays the skeletons of old acacias, some of them more than 500 years old. It is the ultimate psychomagic place in Africa. After 11am the place becomes deserted and you can enjoy the vast sticky clay pan all for yourself - that is, if there is no film crew present.
